The board of the directors for the Trenton Community A-Team is seeking a founding executive director to run the day-to-day operations for the new nonprofit.
In February 2001, with the support of the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen (TASK) board of trustees, a group of artists who regularly use the services of the soup kitchen formed an artists’ cooperative known as the A-Team Artists of Trenton. The A-Team has flourished, with many artists selling their work, and the group became a separate nonprofit last year. The A-Team is now located at 51 North Stockton Street in Trenton.
“We’re seeking a high energy, organized person who can not only help these artists, but also establish what will become the hub of an arts district in Trenton, which in turn will be a catalyst for the growth and betterment of our city,” said A-Team Board Member and Trenton resident Jim Gordon.
Responsibilities include fundraising, facilities management, bookkeeping and accounting, coordinating with other nonprofits and agencies in the community, managing art exhibits and performances, public relations, and working closely with artists, board members and community volunteers.
The job is part-time to start, involving 80 hours of work per month with a monthly salary of $2,080. Some evening and weekend work will be required. The search for the executive director will remain open until the position is filled.
Candidates should have at least one-year experience working in a nonprofit or inner city group serving diverse, under-served individuals and ideally in a group associated with art production and presentation. Candidates should also have leadership, management, communication, and fundraising skills, as well as a passion for the mission of the A Team. Trenton residency is a plus.
