Mercer County is seeking artwork for the exterior of the County Court House that opened in 2013.
Professional, practicing artists and artist teams living or working within a 50-mile radius of Mercer County are eligible to apply to be chosen for the Mercer County Court House Public Art Project. Artists with positive public art installation experiences or who have partnered with architects in art installation are strongly preferred.
The art, which will be installed in five recessed panels, should reflect the history of Mercer County, the city of Trenton, and/or the county court system.
Panels in the exterior wall of the courthouse to the left of the courthouse’s main entrance on South Warren Street will showcase the artwork. The panels are four feet tall, eight feet wide, and four inches deep.
Sculptors, artists or artist teams are invited to submit their professional and artistic qualifications for the public art project. For details and application requirements, click here. Finalists selected by a committee will be asked to submit a full proposal for the project. The deadline to submit an application for the project is Jan. 10 of 2018.
Materials used must be weather resistant and the final artwork must be prepared to be readily mounted to CMU block. The total project budget, including installation costs, is $74,000. Questions? Contact Tricia Fagan at email@example.com.
